WHO WE ARE: Mike’s Divers is a co-operative project with Mr & Mrs Mike Jaureguy (An American couple) and The Village of Votua. We are located at the edge of Voiua Village right on the beach and the Queens Highway, Halfway between Suva and Nadi, near Korolevu, in between the Warwick and Naviti Resorts. We are about 500 meters from a large barrier reef, with beautiful wall diving, deep trenches, and shallow coral gardens.

A percentage of all diving fees go into the Village Community Fund. The money then is used for projects such as the Sea Wall, Community Centre, Water System, and other community projects.

Accommodation
HOUSING AND FOOD : Villagers are also opening their homes to guests. Guests will have a private bedroom and a shared bathroom. Become a part of a Fijian Family.

Activities
Participate in regular Votua Village Activities--guests are invited to select and participate in the following: Mat Making (floor mats), Salusalu Making (fresh flower leis), Bure building. Visiting and helping on farm/plantations of Dalo, Kava, Kassava. Study Native & herbal Plants & Uses,Take a trek to the, Hot Springs, Visit the Water Fall, Observation of Village Meeting, Kava Ceremony, Visit to Old Villages with stories by Elders, Prawn fishing in the river. For groups of 10 or more, special Meke evenings with dancers performing in native costumes, with songs. dances and a lovo dinner (pit cooking of fish, chicken, dalo, fruit). Guests can assist in cooking and preparing/grinding coconut for dishes etc. & a Kava Ceremony.

Diving
Offering the diver that wants to see Fiji Underwater .. the Opportunity.

Great for:

- Getting PADI certified, while vacationing. - University student groups, private Schools.

- Couples, (Diver/Nondiver) Gives opportunity for non diver to learn, while diver can gain another certification.

SURFACE INTERVALS: Sounds strange, but instead of bobbing around in the hot sun aboard a boat, we are close enough to the sites (5-10 mins.) that we return to the shop, where rest rooms, showers/towels, free tea/refreshments, & a Verandah with tables overlooking the lagoon awaits. At lunch time, the village ladies usually come over to the shops Buree with hot meals of curry, fish & casava, that guests and staff can have for $2 FJ. Truly Fiji living. MARINE CONSERVATION: We practice a strict conservation rule..of only taking pictures from our area. Say Hi and Bye, or "Bula" and "Moce". No game fishing , no shell collecting, etc., is allowed. We have a large divers library in our classroom for fish identification in books and also on CD for computer identification. ABOUT OUR COMPANY: Mike’s Divers is a registered PADI International Resort Centre. That means that we satisfy the highest standards for a dive facility and that we are an insured company with PADI International. We are also a member of The Fiji Dive Operators Association that sets safety standards for diving companies in Fiji. We are also a licensed Dive Company with the Government of Fiji. One of the first companies in Fiji to apply for and satisfy the new government diving regulations. We operate boats that have been inspected and approved by The Fiji Marine Department. We are a registered company with the Fiji Trade and Investment Board.

Dive Sites
We have exclusive use of the best diving on the Coral Coast!! The Votua reef has not been used for the past 15 years, until we began our cooperative project two years ago with the village. The area had been well known and had been written up in Skin Diver Magazine with Morgan’s Wall as being one of the 5 favorite dive sites in Fiji. Diving on the Votua reef, is mainly drift dives, with divers being dropped off at entry and picked up where they complete their dive. The reef has a number of good walls such as Snow White & The Seven Angels, that features a wall covered with White Soft Corals and seven different kinds of Angel fish. Morgan’s Wall, is a favorite with Giant Sea Fans, Schools of Barracuda, Lion Fish, Sponges, and whatever happens to be swimming along with you. Turtles, White Tips, Mantas. The drop off is Open Water with the deep blue alongside. There are deep dive areas, with hard corals and pelagic. Another favorite is called THE MAZE with swim throughs, small caves, gobies, & sand sharks. 14 other dive sites exist along the reef with each one different according to the current, tide and time of day.

Dive Equipment
Good sturdy Genesis reg/octo, BCD. Air Compressor with Filters, receives top quality air rating. Tanks all current and stamped. Five Staff has recently passed Tank Inspectors course.

BOATS: All registered with Fiji Govt. carrying oxygen, radios, first aid, life jackets.

INSURANCE: All Dive Masters, Instructor, are current with certification and insured.

Dive Courses
SCUBA SCHOOL: Best in Fiji. Classroom with IMAC computers, videos, Lagoon & Ocean directly of of door, Pita Amino Instructor, with 20 years experience, Australian trained. Excellence in safety and individual attention. We will teach a class of one.

Graduates are given a free Kava Ceremony on successful completion of their course with a presentation of their certificate and a free Salusalu (Dry Lei).

STAFF: We are always "overstaffed"... due to our commitment to train villagers in PADI Dive Careers, as well as computer and accounting skills. Being a Village cooperative project we can have up to 14 working with Office workers, gardener, housekeeper/Tea Maker, maintenance, 2 boat captains, 2 boat assistants, Instructor, 3 Dive Masters, Equipment Specialist/Tanks, Driver.

DIVING RATES: (for certified divers) includes weights, tanks, boat, and certificated guide.

COURSES: All courses are taught by Padi Certified Instructors to PADI standards Use of course materials and all equipment (new) and dives are included in price. Course materials to keep are extra.
